alcoholic i i um i was both pleased and and honored to be able to do this chapter from the big book.

In my lifetime, I have been married to an alcoholic.

I have been an alcoholic. I'm married to somebody that's in the program.

And because of those things, I guess I've kind of lived through everything that's in this chapter.

And when I was first thinking about coming here tonight, I was trying to figure out,

oh, how should I present this?

Because every time I read this chapter, I do it a different way.

And I've read it as the wife of an alcoholic, the kind of wife that doesn't

drink. I have tried switching all the pronouns so that I could read it as the alcoholic,

and the book is written to the spouse, who would be a man, and that was always difficult.

And I've just kind of, you know, gotten to the spouse, who would be a man, and that was always difficult. And I've just kind of, you know, gotten to the point where it's, to me, it's an alcoholic

to another alcoholic or married to another one.

And that works out all right for me.

And I'm not sure of what I'm talking to you tonight, which one I'm going to be in,

because it may change as the moon swings me, or just because of what I'm relating.

A lot of the things that I will relate from the drinking years that were in my life will, of course, be when I was married to an alcoholic that was active.

And some of those experiences have led me to where I'm at now

and also have been a big part in my early years in the program,

working in the steps.
