asking me to come share um on step one and the doctor's opinion my name is david i'm alcoholic

it's nice to be here uh i just started just started off with just welcoming everyone who's back, coming back and those who are new to Alcoholics Anonymous.

Obviously, every one of us was in that position at some point or other, being a newcomer to Alcoholics Anonymous. I know some people are coming back again.

But my first time at Alcoholics Anonymous. I know some people are coming back again. But my first time at Alcoholics

Anonymous was back in 1994 and thankfully I haven't drank since Stenway's

Brighty days the 26th of November 1994. And we all know it is just for today. It is one day

at a time. I'm coming up to a big milestone I I believe, for me, in the end of November, I'll be 27 years a day of time. And I came in at age 27. So, you know, that's my, you know, all these milestones along the way, you know, the first week we got, you know, I remember getting the first week, the first 10 days, then I got a month and then, you know, all these days became months and then the months became years.

And, you know, I still have to do the basic stuff.

But what is obviously different today, I have a lot more practical experience of living as an alcoholic who's not active.

And, you know, obviously I had to take that first step.

You know, the first step is the only step, as I'm sure we would all know, is the only step we can take 100%.

The rest of the steps are perfect ideals.

So, you know, I had to concede to my enormous self.

I had to admit to myself I was alcoholic.

And that idea for me me kind of I would have

interpreted that prior to a as someone who was a drunk that's what I would have

taught an alcoholic was now I know some people use that word and they say I was a

drunk ha ha ha but I don't I would not have been able to come in and say my name

is David and I'm a drunk I never like liked being drunk, as a matter of fact.
