When you work in the auto industry,

or when you write about the auto industry,

one of the questions you inevitably get is some version of what's your favorite car

My answer to this always throws people off balance because my answer is not a classic Rolls Royce or Bugatti, it's not a sports car with tons of

horsepower, it's not even weighing in on the ongoing pickup wars. In short, my

answer is the Chevy Volt with a V.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for a good redemption story,

but the way that a few people inside General Motors

had the wherewithal to package their learnings from the tragically cancelled EV1 and put it into a new car that foreshadows every electrification trend that's apparent today and forge ahead with that at a time when the company was in the midst of financial turmoil and the butt of the government motors jokes.

I think this is an incredible story about a car that's packed with technology and the

Chevy Volt is perhaps the great unappreciated or underappreciated car of our time.
