Tom versus the Flash number 236 or a strange prescription from Dr. Fates.

Welcome back to the Flash number 236 of September 1975 issue featuring a cover by Mike

Grell with the entire issue being edited by Julie Schwartz. The story in this issue is nowhere on

the face of Earth written by Carrie Bates penciled by Irvnovick with inks by Tex Blaisdell. We begin at beautiful Silver Lake, a lake near Central City. It's where the people of Central City go, and they're trying to get away from the heat of the city in the summer, when it's unbearable, the pavement. You've got to go somewhere.. You got to cool off. We see a young lady water skiing.

We see a couple on a date and a robot with some suggestive talk between the two.

As the young lady says, gee, Tommy, you sure can't handle a robot with him saying, well, I'd rather before he's interrupted.

Interrupted by what?

You know, like the father and a smaller robot nearby,

her cutting him off. Robot robot robot is what I almost said. I'm going to think it is a robot

robot in my own head. I think it's true. Now, he's interrupted by the most dangerous of all

lake conditions, the sudden tidal wave. That's right. A tidal wave is kicked up in

Silver Lake. It's freaking everybody out. It's a giant wall of water coming towards children playing

on the beach. It's going to be a disaster. How did this happen? How can it stop? Well, we find out

exactly how it happened. The flash has been running across the lake. Absentmindedly, he was going

so fast that he kicked up a tidal wave. He's almost across the lake when all of a sudden he snaps back to attention. There's a reason, of course, if you've read the last issue, you listen to the last episode of why he's distracted. He's looking for his wife, Iris, who seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. He's got to put his own problems aside for a second to save all these people in this lake and to stop this lake tidal wave,

a horrible lake tidal wave. He's pulling water skiers out of there. He's pushing lovebirds on their

rowboats out. He's grabbing kids. He kicks up a burst, a wall of speed vibrations that destroys the tidal wave. Everyone's a bit shocked. They're all like, how did we get on the beach? No one seems that disturbed by it. I'd be pretty disturbed if I was swimming, and then suddenly I ended up on the beach. They figure it's the flash. They say, well, I must have been the flash. That's how things go in Central City. So you cut back the flash

cutting across the countryside tired. He's exhausted because he's been spending every minute

looking for Iris and hundreds of miles around Central City, combing everything. He hasn't found

a single clue. But he's got to keep looking. Of course he would if you lost your wife. But he's

got a feeling as he says that she's nowhere on the face of the earth. That's a little bit true because we leave this earth,

Earth 1, where Barry Allen is to travel to Earth 2, a parallel Earth on a different vibrational
