Welcome back to the Flash number 229, the September, October 1974 issue featuring a cover

by Nick Cardi with the entire issue being edited by Julie Schwartz. It is a 100-page spectacular

issue featuring a brand new flash story, a bunch of other stories.

Let's see how much of this I can actually do before I get too tired.

Our first story is The Ragdoll Runs Wild, written by Carrie Bates, with Art, Byrne Irv Novick, and Frank McLaughlin. It's a Barry Allen, Jay Garrick story.

That's right. We're getting some golden age flash in this. We start on Earth 1, Central City.

Barry's saying goodbye to his lovely wife, Iris. She's saying, you want to get some lunch today?

He says, I can't. I have a date with another woman. We all laugh. Or do we? She makes a joke saying, you want to get some lunch today? He says, I can't. I have a date with another woman.

We all laugh.

Or Dewey. She makes a joke saying, you're always running late. She'd leave before you got there. Barry thinks to himself, that's what you think, Iris. Creepy. It's a creepy beginning. We then cut to his office where one of his coworkers. around noon comes in to take a look at Barry,

ask him to come grab some lunch,

but Barry's gone.

That old coworker thing. to his office where one of his co-workers, around noon, comes in to take a look at Barry,

ask him to come grab some lunch, but Barry's gone.

The old coworker thinks he must have gone home to that dish of a wife of his.

Again, a little weird, inappropriate for the coworker to be thinking that, perhaps,

just keep your mental hands off, Iris.

But we see what's really been happening.

Barry does have a date.

But it requires him to go as the flash.

When his co-worker walked in, he started vibrating at super speed.
