Tom versus Flash number 219 or I wonder if Mirror Master and the top lofted their beds.

Welcome back for the Flash number 219 to December 1972 issue featuring a cover by Nick Cardi

with the entire issue being edited by Julie Schwartz. The first story in this issue is the million-dollar death

trap written by Kerry Bates with pencils by Irv Novick and inked by Joe Giella. We start this issue

at the state penitentiary. 100 miles north of Central City, you see the normal part of the

prison, but then there's like this weird maximum security block off to

the side. Now, who could be in there? Of course, rogues, that's where they keep the rogues.

It's all run by automation. There's no guards, so they can't trick guards and they're giving

them mirrors or boomerings or shit like that. Robots bring them magazines, clothes, food, everything. So high security,

highest security you can get. Nothing could possibly happen except, oh wait, the same space

we're going to have these guys room together, which really does, I mean it doesn't factor

into the breakout, but it's still odd like, well, we have this high security area. Let's put a mirror master in the top

together, which is what we see here, as they are both sharing a room. And yeah, it's bunk bed. So yes,

the bed is lofted. Funny thing, though, as they're introduced, there's some weird name stuff with some

with the rogues. Mirmasters introduced as

Joe Scudder. I think it really is supposed to be Sam Scudder, except they usually just call him

Scudder. And the top is introduced as Roscoe Neal, which would eventually become Roscoe

Dylan. I'm sure as we go along, there'll be some sort of explanation for the name.

So we look into their cell.

They got a lot of time just to talk to each other.

They got no one else to talk to.

And Miramaster is shining his shoes, and it's pissing off the top.
