Tom versus the Flash number 217 or my computer is wondering where's Obama's birth certificate?

Welcome back to the Flash number 217, the August September 1972 issue, featuring a cover by Nick Cardi, with the issue being edited by Julie Schwartz. There's a little bit of a format

change in the books now. They've been doing the 25 cent 52 page big issues with the reprints in the

back. They at this point cut it back to 20 cents have a shortened main story like 14 pages

around in there for the flash story. but they also then have an all-new

backup story in the back. In this case, it happens to be Green Lantern, Green Arrow, which I

will be covering as well. But let's start with, of course, the Flash story first. The Flash

Story is always the most important. It is entitled, The Flash Times 5 is fatal, written by Len Ween, with pencils by Irv Novick and Inks by Frank McLaughlin.

We starred a devastating machine tearing through Central City.

It's something called the Dreadnought.

Some crooks that got hold of a tank, and they're just tearing ass through the city robbing

places devastating everything in its wake tearing down buildings they this is a new age of

criminal no subtlety just destroy everything and of course the flash is chasing after it trying

to save people that are going to get hurt by things that For instance, near one of the banks that it's robbed,

a cornice from the building, like a corner from one of the buildings, is about to fall and hit a kid. The flesh is racing to save him. Of course, he grabs a kid. He's got him. But then in a different part, is the dread not drives by a piece of a building. It's about to fall on four people. the flash can't grab them all in his hands,

but with some excellently drawn panels by Irv Novic,

really capturing action and the fall of the

building, he catches them up in his slipstream, dragging him away to safety. Now that he's got

him safe, he's got chased on the dreadnought. And as he's following, it's awake of destruction,

all of a sudden it trails off and disappears. This giant tank, this is the third time it's done it,

I believe. It just vanishes into thin air. You see a suspicious van in the background. He start to

piece together what's going on. So Barry, of course, is flabbergasted by what's going on, but he's still
