Tom versus the Flash number 189 or how dare you say that to me?

Welcome back to the Flash number 189, the June 1969 issue entitled The Death Touch of the Blue Ghost, written by John Broome, penciled by Ross Andrew, inked by Mike Esposito, edited by Julie Schwartz, and featuring a cover by Joe Cubert.

We begin this issue with Barry, Iris, and their nephew Wally going on a little trip together.

In Blue Valley, Wally's hometown. Very exciting place where reciting Shakespeare downtown gets you in

trouble, as we've seen before.

They play it safe there. But they're going to a special place in Blue Valley. There's this

secluded hill that it's hard to get to. And it glows blue, and there's one hostile on top of it,

a hostile cottage, which apparently you can just go and stay whenever you want. But there's one hostel on top of it, a hostile cottage, which apparently you can just go and stay

whenever you want. But there's no roads that go there, apparently. So what did Barry do?

Barry did what any awesome uncle does. He rented a helicopter and is flying it in himself

so they can go on this vacation. If you're going to rent a helicopter, don't do it

in Blue Valley. Yet there's this hill. It glows blue. It's a little weird. It's a quirky trip you can

take. But do that in Hawaii. Do that someplace more exotic. Still, that's a cool uncle move.

They get there. They're talking about the fact

that it's rumored to be haunted and the strange blue glow, and they're hungry, so Barry and

Wally are going to go out and grab some firewood so they can get a fire going to cook some stuff

inside the hostel. They've brought a bird with them for some reason. I just noticed, and it's

important later in the story. There's your luggage,

a bird who doesn't go on a trip without their bird, and it looks like Wally brought his clothes

in a garbage bag. That is standard child move. Well, now that Barry and Iris are married,

she knows that Wally is kid flesh. She doesn't

have to hide it. They throw on their costumes. They go running around the woods, picking up
