Tom versus the Flash number 190 or I would not like to have to discuss my annual self-review with The Flash.

Welcome back for the Flash number 190, the August 1969 issue featuring a cover drawn by Joe

Kubart, one of my favorite covers of all time. We got two stories in this issue. The creative teams for both

stories are the same. Writer John Broome, Penciler, Ross Andrew, Inker, Mike Esposito, editor

Julie Schwartz. Our first story is Super Speed Agent of the Flash. We open a nice summer day,

Ace trailer camp, people with their trailers hanging

out enjoying themselves. Problem though, tornado on its way, about to kill all of them. Flash running

in to save the day, creating a counter tornado by spinning his arms around. Throws his tornado up against

its fury, two giant tornadoes colliding. It picks the

flash up off the ground, twirling him around, causing him to black out and smashing him

under the ground. Hard. Hard enough that his leg is hurt. As the tornadoes dissipate and all the people

in their trailers are happy because they're not

dead, they notice the poor flesh injured on the ground grasping his leg. At the hospital, we see a doctor

talking to the flash and a bunch of reporters in the room. Could they not give him a little bit of space?

He's injured back up. And the doctor informs the flesh that his leg is so

badly broken, he'll never be able to run again. The media goes crazy. One guy goes over the phone,

he starts calling it. Iris happens to be there. She's a reporter. I mean, no one knows that

she's married to the Flash in real life. Barry's starting to lose it a little bit.

He does say he's thankful it happened on the weekend. He's got a couple days to put together,

but he's got a broken leg. So he was going to show up to work with a broken leg just like the

flashes. The secret identity's gone. He can't fight crime. Everything is falling apart. You can tell because his brow is sweating through his uniform.

The Flash's guy's leg in a cast at the hospital. He's thinking he can still help Central City, even though it's now overrun with crime.
