Welcome back for Aquaman and Adventure Comics number 258, the March in 1959 issue,

feature cover penciled by Kurtzwan, inked by Stan K, a issue being edited by Mort Wisinger,

and our Aquaman story is The Incredible Fish of Dr. Danton, featuring art by Ramona Frayden.

We begin, Solitary Island, Far out sea, and Aquaman speaks to someone who's a friend of his, a Dr. Danton, and it appears that Aquaman has done a huge favor for Dr. Danton, and Aquaman's wearing yellow gloves in this issue, if you care about that type of thing.

I do a little bit.

Dr. Danton is running some experiments, and he needs sea life to run the experiments on.

And Aquaman has gathered various types of sea animals for Dr. Dendon to experiment on.

Aquaman will just sell out these friends

of his so fast. They're all in these little tanks and you have a swordfish and an octopus.

That might be Steve that's in there, an electric eel. And the saddest thing of all, the saddest one

that Aquaman brought Dr. Danton for experimenting is a baby whale. Either Aquaman stole this baby whale

from its mother, which is horrific, or he arranged for the death of the mother so he could take

advantage of the orphan situation. Either way, he sold out these creatures, and Denton's given

this talk about how they'll be very safe here. He's not going

to do anything too weird to them. Of course, he's going to do something weird to them. It's late

50s. It's science. Something odd is going to happen. An Aquaman just takes off. He's just going to

hang out. A little while after, Dante notices something strange. A big cloud of dust,

slowly descending upon the island.

Is it a cloud? Is it locust? What is it? It's nuclear dust from one of those nuclear explosions that the government's always testing. Remember, in the Aquaman world, the U.S.

government's constantly shooting missiles into the ocean to blow it up, into space to blow up.

They're just like blowing up missiles, and one of these is blown up nearby, causing a layer of radioactive dust
