The Untold Story of the CIA Mission to Avenge 9-11. In it, he takes us through the heroic

through his exclusive access to highly classified CIA documents and officials. He joins us now

here. Hi, Martha. Thanks for having me on. So this is a fascinating story.

I think a lot of people followed it closely way back in the beginning right after September 11th

because Team Alpha, as you write, was the first this CIA paramilitary group to be able to get in to Afghanistan,

to ride down from the north on horseback

with the Northern Alliance and working with local tribal leaders there.

Why is it that you wanted to go back and focus on this part of the story and what happened to

CIA agent, the person that you refer to as the first casualty, Johnny Michael Spann.

Well, I was in Washington, D.C. on 9-11, and I feel that the story really starts there.

And I wanted to go back to the beginning to look at what the mission was because clearly over the past 20 years,
