If you're hooked on the idea of building terrariums like I now am and I really have not built one yet that I can remember, then this episode is for you. We're talking tiny terrariums you can build at home with Ben Newell,

the founder of Worcester Terariums, which is just an amazing resource for getting started with terrariums.

Ben, you mentioned yesterday you had this

buyer of earth this crazy expensive terrarium but also there's terrams you can

build literally for zero dollars or ten dollars and I was kind of curious maybe we could go through two or three of these designs that you've come up with because you've put some videos out on this in the past that people could just kind of get a taste for what terrariums are like.

Yeah, sure. so I think I really like these sort of

square containers so for those of you can't see it's literally like a glass

square cuboid-shaped container filled with a little bit of moss just on the bottom and then I've got the I've used one kind of plants that you see that large leaf one at the back.

That's a plant called Ceningia muscocola and it doesn't grow any bigger than just a few

centimeters. So actually that was super cheap to make. It was like it would be the

equivalent of perhaps 10 to 15 dollars. And I think what's really a fun

aspect of Terarian building is like you can personalize them.

So as a kid I was obsessed with dinosaurs and through creating videos I was like, I don't't know how can I access more people so

using dinosaurs dinosaur figurines I mean like that's super tiny like my friend

3D prints these and paints them. Oh, that's so cool.

It's like a little prehistoric scene in what Ben's showing on the video version.

Yeah, and some of the dinosaurs have fallen over.

But, and this terrarium has a super tiny opening so you have to like use tweezers to get them in there

But anything that's clear and that can hold humidity can potentially be used as a terrarium so even something like a tic-tac box

a jam jar and it's just about sort of choosing the right plants to go inside it.

You know, a lot of mosses grow super slow, they stay small and a small ticked out box with somosin is quite a curious thing. It looks quite unusual
