I'm Dale Johnson and you're listening to Truth in Love, a podcast of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors,

0:18.3

where we seek to provide biblical solutions for the problems

0:21.7

that people face. This week on the podcast, I am delighted to have with us one of our board members

0:28.1

at ACBC, Tim Pasmus. Tim has been a board member for three years and a certified member since

0:34.4

1991. Praise the Lord for that. Tim, I'm so grateful. You've also been

0:38.7

the pastor at LaRue Baptist Church in LaRue, Ohio for 34 years. Yep. You know, those kinds of

0:45.7

0:51.9

Brother, every time we're together, it just is a delight to my soul.

0:55.9

I love to talk with you, just to hear what the Lord has taught you, to glean wisdom from you,

to hear you laugh is one of my favorite things. And so I just enjoy being with you. I appreciate that.

1:08.3

I'm excited about the topic that we're going to discuss today. So welcome to

1:11.4

the podcast as we talk about Psychologized Counselese. Thank you, Dale. It's great to be here.

1:28.7

psychologist counselorie? Well, we're talking about not the folks who form the diagnostic

1:34.0

labels, the categories that we're talking about, not the ones who are the influences in our

1:40.1

culture. We're talking about those who've absorbed and adopted those categories as ways of

1:46.2

explaining and understanding their problems and their challenges. In fact, they're the people

1:52.0

that we talk to every day. Yeah, that's exactly right, because our culture certainly flows in that

1:56.8

direction where the way in which we interpret and think about the problems that we have is often from what's common in our culture, the psychologized ideals that drive the way we

2:07.1

think about people. And people will come in, and that's the way they're trying to interpret
