More explosions rocked Lebanon. The house rejected a bill to avert a shutdown, and a new study shows how hurricanes are getting more dangerous.

Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Number one, more electronic devices exploded in Lebanon yesterday. The blasts killed at least 20 people and injured more than 450.

Reports said some of the devices were two-way radios. It came a day after thousands of pagers used by the militant group and political

party Hezbollah blew up across Lebanon. Tuesday's explosions killed 12 people and injured thousands.

Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attack.

Israel did not confirm or deny responsibility,

but according to two U.S. officials, Israel told the US about the specifics of the attack after it took place, and not before.

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire since the war in Gaza began nearly a year ago.

White House National Security spokesman John Kirby

spoke to the press yesterday about the administration's reaction

to the situation in Lebanon and in Gaza.

All what I'll say is that we want to see the war end.

And everything we've been doing since the beginning has been designed

to prevent the conflict from escalating.

We still believe, for instance, that there is a diplomatic path forward,

that particularly up near Lebanon.

And we still believe that while it is increasingly difficult,

we are certainly no closer to finality

that we believe a ceasefire deal and a negotiation to get the hostages out is still the best
