Harris spoke more bluntly than she has previously about the difference between herself and President Joe Biden.

Let me be very clear.

My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden's presidency and like

every new president that comes in to office I will bring my life experiences

my professional experiences and fresh and new ideas.

I represent a new generation of leadership.

Harris also had harsh words for her Republican rival Donald Trump.

This is a democracy and in a democracy the President of the United States in the United States of America should be willing to be able to handle criticism without saying he'd lock people up for doing it.

Harris has been under pressure to broaden her appeal to conservatives with less than three weeks to go before the election.

Earlier in the day, she had held an event featuring prominent Republicans in Pennsylvania.
