of the United States that need it most. According to the March of Dimes, 7 million women of child

bearing age and 500,000 babies are losing

access to care they need. 36% of counties nationwide can officially be titled Maternity Care

Deserts due to no obstetric hospitals or birth centers and no obstetric providers.

And yes, I am talking about the United States, a first world country.

Most of these counties are actually in the Midwest and South, in rural areas, or in communities

with people of color.

One in four Native American babies and one in six black babies were born

in areas with limited or no access to maternity care services. And it's important to note,

the results of this study came before Roe v. Wade was overturned, meaning accessible care may be even
