And we always start with the top story. Today, it's a quick roundup of all the big stories out of Washington yesterday.

First yesterday morning, President-elect Trump was back in the White House.

He had a meeting with President Biden in the Oval Office.

Reporters were present for that.

They shook hands and both called for a smooth transition.

While that was dominating the news cycle yesterday, another story broke,

Senate Republicans elected John Thune of South Dakota to be the next Senate-majority leader.

He's going to take over for Mitch McConnell, who has held that role since 2007.

Then, as that story was unfolding, more breaking news.

As expected, it came out that Republicans won the House of Representatives.

They will retain House majority.

So it's a monopoly, a Republican president, Senate, and House.

And then it came out that controversial Florida Congressman Matt Gates will be Trump's Attorney General.
