We begin the new year with possible flash flood fears in Southern California and snow and bitter cold from the Midwest to New England.

Good morning. Happy New Year to you. So 2026 coming in with a bang with this snow squall,

actual lightning and thunder in parts of Pennsylvania.

This thing just moved through, taking visibility down

in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island.

And now we start 2026.

2026 coming in cold from Wisconsin to Florida where the manatee were huddling to stay warm.

A new round of Lake Effect snow helping to ring in the new year after Syracuse got more

than two feet of snow on Tuesday alone.

They've already had more snow this year than the last three winters combined.

In Times Square, the crowd braving flurries with wind chills in the low 20s during the coldest ball drop in eight years.

And in the West, crowds ringing in the new year with cold, wet rain in San Francisco.

In Southern California, this New Year's storm bringing fresh evacuation warnings and flood

watches for more than 17 million people.

Los Angeles has already had more than 11 inches of rain since October 1st.

That's nearly three times the average for that period.

Lingering road closures due to debris flow, mudslides, and storm damage from last week's powerful storms.

And now as we start in Southern California, 2026, going to be another wet one that could pick up to an inch of rain.
