episode. We're in First Kings chapter 15 today. We're kind of in the ugly section of First Kings.

Remember, we said that the series is called The Good, the bad, and the ugly, and we're seeing some

ugliness, especially in the northern kingdom of Israel for 250 years from the time that Solomon

died and the kingdom split until the time the northern kingdom was completely obliterated by the Assyrians,

they never had even one good king. How sad? And yet, on the other hand, how merciful of God

to put up with that kind of apostasy for all of those years.

And we're going to see people like Ahab and others that import bail worship into the country of God.

Just really, really bad stuff.

And all of this, as we know, is a lesson for us. Sometimes when you read the Bible, it's like,

wow, failure after failure after failure. But that really is the biography of human beings,

is that we inevitably do fail. And that's why we need a savior. And that's why our only hope is Jesus, his salvation,

and the empowerment that he can give to us. And as we look at the few good kings, and we will see

some, we see kings that are humble, that rely upon God, that trust him. And the Lord is still looking for those that will

trust him. I mentioned last episode about Asa. It's about Asa that the writer in Second

Chronicle says that the eyes that the Lord are in every place. And that he goes throughout the whole earth looking for those that will trust him.
