Mark chapter 15 for tonight's study.

We did a reading of this chapter on Sunday, but as I mentioned then, there's so much in this

small chapter that it's power-packed and worth time to spend just thinking through and

meditating on what's going on here at the cross, Mark chapter 15. So we pick up where we left

off last Wednesday in verse 1 of chapter 15. Now keep in mind, this is after the last supper.

You know, the Garden of Githemone, there in chapter 14.

And remember, there's these trials. There were going to be three trials that were Jewish and three trials that would be Roman.

Why did they need Jewish trials and Roman trials?

Why did they have to do both of those?

Well, that's an important thing.

And actually, one of those check boxes that we talk about, the prophetic nature of how

Jesus, everything that happened with Jesus,

the timing of so many things, for Jesus to be the Messiah, talked about in the Old Testament,

there's about 300 boxes that needed to be perfectly checked that could no way have been

otherwise fulfilled in any single person.

And it's so profound that even to this day that the Jews largely don't think that Jesus is the Messiah,

and yet their Bible, the Jewish Bible, the Hebrew Bible, the Old Testament.

So boldly predicts and proclaims who he would be, and Jesus checks all those boxes. Interesting sideline story by the way on this whole thing where the Jewish trials versus the Roman

trials. The reason why that happened is because in AD 6 the Jews lost their sovereignty as a nation. You might say, for you Bible people,

you'll get this, the scepter of power had departed from them. Now you say, what's that all

about? The scepter being departed? Well, it's a prophecy. Do you remember in Genesis

Chapter 49, Jacob, the father,
