Well, we're in the Gospel of John. Would you turn with me to John chapter 8 this evening?

If you're wondering, wait, weren't we in Chapter 10 last Sunday? And the answer is yes. But remember, we're doing the I am statements of the Gospel of John. And so we're kind of bouncing around just a little bit.

But as far as verse by verse, chapter by chapter, we finished last Wednesday night with chapter seven, and we pick it up here in

John chapter 8. And here Jesus is on the Mount of Olives looking over Jerusalem, and this is where

this story starts. In fact, it starts in verse 1. Jesus went to the Mount of Olives, and early in the morning he came again

into the temple, and all the people came into him, and he sat down and taught them. Jesus would go to the

Mount of Olives to get some solitude, some quiet time, time to seek the father. And this is often where they'd find

Jesus. In fact, Judas even knew where to find Jesus when he betrayed him. There on the Mount

of Olives in the Garden of Gisemite. So that's where Jesus would often be. And then he'd go

from the Mount of Olives, go do his ministry in Jerusalem, and then kind of

retreat back to the Mount of Olives.

That was kind of a common thing.

We saw it last week, everybody in chapter 7, verse 53, every man went into his own house.

And we saw, you know, last week some people were believing in Jesus.

Others went off in a huth. And they said, we're not going to follow this guy. It's interesting to me

to watch over the years, the kinds of people that hear Jesus and reject Jesus and get huffy and stuff like that. Early in my ministry as a pastor,

it used to really hurt. I remember there were times where people would, you know, get up in the

sanctuary and walk off in a huff. We still have that. Maybe you've seen it, or somebody will get up,

now it's different. You can tell the person sitting in the back and they have work,

they have to go to work so they're leaving the certain, they'll quietly kind of get up and sneak out and totally cool. But it's the person sitting in the front row that stands up, looks at me,

and then, you know, kind of walks off, walks out, you know, with a stride, you know, strut. Maybe you've seen that.
