Summary

As they continue their first missionary journey in Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas encounter extraordinary opportunities but also fierce opposition from a group of Jews who continually stir up trouble. But despite these violent uprisings – and even a near-death experience for Paul – they continued performing miracles, preaching the Gospel, and strengthening the faith of the new believers who accepted Jesus as their Savior.

Acts chapter 14 as we continue verse by verse through the Bible.

I love how in the Bible we have God's word. You know, the average secularists would say, well, how do you know it's God's word?

0:24.1

There's no way to know that or prove that. But I believe there really, if you take a careful

0:28.6

look at the scripture, it can't be denied that it's God's word. I think that, you know,

0:36.2

when we see Paul and Barnabas go around and they're preaching the word,

0:40.5

right there, there's power. You can see it in the story. The word of God was preached, and many came to know the Lord.

0:46.6

But equally proof positive is there was a pushback. Whenever something's really true and right,

0:52.9

sometimes you'll see something that's massive pushback as well.

0:56.0

And, you know, it's true. The Bible says Hebrews 412, for the Word of God is quick or living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword.

And in the Bible is just embedded all kinds of truths. And I have a hunch when we get to heaven. We're just not going to,

1:11.8

we're just not even going to be, I mean, we're just going to be blown away how much we missed,

1:15.9

or how much we didn't know, or how much that was already there, but we just kind of just scraps

1:20.6

the surface. Would you keep your finger here? I know we haven't even gone into verse one yet,

1:24.5

but go with me to Genesis. I just want to review this. I've got through this

1:28.3

before, but I feel compelled to do it again. Genesis chapter 5 is one of those places in the Bible.

1:34.7

You know, funny, this is one of the first chapters of the Bible. So this is where people, I'm going to

1:38.6

read the Bible. And they get to chapter 5, and they say, this is why I don't read the Bible.

1:44.1

Let's take a look.

1:45.1

Genesis chapter five starting in verse three.

1:52.8

It says in Genesis 5, 3, and Adam lived 130 years and beget his son in his own likeness after his image and called his name Seth.

2:04.9

So you got the guy Seth there. Then verse five and all the days that Adam lived were 930 years.

2:11.8

He died and Seth lived 105 years and begat Enos or Enush depending on which translation you have. And Seth lived after he
