You'll notice on the screen I have Second Chronicles 26. Is that a typo? No, keep your finger in

2 Corinthians 12 and turn me to 2nd Chronicles chapter 26. I want you in both passages. We're going to kind

dip our toe in the Old Testament here as what does the Old Testament have? Well, it's got, it's a

picture book and it illustrates New

Testament truths. And I want to start with this sort of picture that I think really applies to this

last sort of section, particularly the last four chapters of 2 Corinthians. We go to 2nd Chronicles

26. Now, Uzziah, he was one of the most

successful kings Judah ever had. The Bible says earlier in this chapter, he built cities, he

strengthened his army, developed weapons of war, and his fame spread far and wide.

But Uzziah, this most amazing, impressive king, in verse 15 of 2nd Chronicles 26,

look at the last part of verse 15.

It says, and his name was spread far abroad, for he was

marvelously helped until he was strong. Wait, what? He was marvelously helped until what?

He was made strong. Well, what does that mean well that's that's a word of warning right

there um beware the bible warns uh when you think you stand that's about when you're about to fall

pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before fall success can lead to pride pride leads

to destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall that That's the problem. Poor Uzziah, his biggest problem, he's successful.

Well, you've got to be careful because we see it all throughout the Bible and we see it all throughout our world.
