As you know here at 8th, we go verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book.

And on the weekends, we usually take a smaller section, zoom in a little bit.

Wednesday we cover a little more ground.

Last Wednesday we covered two chapters of 2nd Corinthians.

So this weekend we're slowing down just a little bit and camping out on just four verses.

But they're chock full.

There's something Paul mentions that becomes sort of a famous thing,

and it's almost an idiom of Christianity.

If you've been a Christian a long time, we have language,

Christian lingo that we use, and if you're new to Christianity,

I'm like, man, what are you talking about?

But if I say Paul had a thorn in the flesh,

for the person who studied the Bible,

has been around the following,

you realize it's not that he had a splinter in his finger

and a boo-boo, it needs to do a better,

none of that.

It means that he had something that was a problem for him

that never went away.

And it was something he had to wrestle with and pray about and deal with.

And it was this point in Paul's argument with the Corinthian Church.
