And let's get to it, 1 Corinthians chapter 12.

And I want McBinville and Hillsborough to take part in this informal poll as well.

I'm going to start with a poll.

Okay, by show of hands,

how many of you have seen something in the church under the banner of the Holy Spirit that made you

nervous or skeptical? Raise your hands. Okay, yeah, yeah, that's about maybe 80% here. Well, I'm

going to ask what happened over there in Hillsborough and McVinville, too. How many of you, another show of hands, how many of you feel like you've never really been taught about the Holy Spirit in a really clear way before? Raise your hand. Anybody? Wow, okay, that's a lot too. Okay, that's important. One more. How many of you would say you've actually been afraid of the topic of the Holy Spirit? Raise your hands? You're afraid to raise your hands? No, just kidding. But I think that what

this shows is there's a real problem in this topic. I mean, just even in this setting here,

and I consider Wednesday night folks, man, you guys are next level. You're here on a midweek

study going through the Bible. But it's still an issue, a topic in the church that causes all

kinds of confusion. But Paul is going to deal with that here in the Church of Corinth, which is

really important to understand. Let's go ahead and dive right in. Chapter 12, verse one, he says, now,

concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. We begin right there.

And it's important. This verse, this verse is very important to understand because there's people

that miss stuff here in the very first verse,

and it causes all kinds of confusion, consternation, and trouble.

This is a topic the church should know about, and we have to ask, how are we doing in being knowledgeable on this?
