And we also welcome our elite irregular panelist, Bruce Garrick.

So, we're going to be talking about a new war game called A Pichen Shot from Byzantine Games in the Lord's Game Studio, published by Slytherin.

It is a, well, the title's kind of self-explanatory, actually.

It is a war game set in the late Renaissance between the end of the pre-gunpowder era and the start of sort of formal

18th century warfare you know the sort of practice by Frederick de Great and Napoleon so

I wanted to start off with you know Troy let's start off with you tell us a little bit about what this game is about and sort of what are the salient details of this period.

Well, it covers really an interesting period in military history.

I mean, from the late 15th century to the mid-17th century, the game itself has like three historical, they call them campaigns, but they're really not.

They're three historical sets of scenarios set in major conflicts.

The three big wars of this period, the Italian wars, the French invasion of northern Italy, where they end up finding Kansas Austria and Spain and all the Italian states.

Of course, the 30 years war, the Catholics and Protestants, with the

military innovations of Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden, and how his innovations changed,

had to go up with his infantry against the Imperial Terseo, Pike and Muscat combinations.

There's a really nice combination

of two really big, heavy units fed against each other.

And then the left third one is the English Civil War,

which has pretty much traditional pike and musket armies

leading up to a sort of professionalized army

in the new model army under Oliver Cromwell.
