Summary

During GDC, Tom Chick and Soren Johnson hosted a talk that was so good that a single panel couldn't contain them. They have invaded Three Moves Ahead to talk to Rob and Bruce about why strategy gaming is in a platinum age, how the business of development is changing, and the relative importance of AI in the development process. Then Tom, Bruce, and Soren freak out over League of Legends, although Bruce is convinced it's Land of Legends. Whatever it is, it sounds pretty good.

interesting summaries, you know, after the fact. And one of the things I guess I'd like to start

0:50.4

with is, Tom, you actually claim that strategy games are in the midst of a golden age.

The ship has sailed on that stuff.

1:10.1

1:20.9

you know, by the way, the panel wasn't just me and Soren. We also had John Schaefer, the lead

designer, Civ 5, Dustin Browder, the lead designer, Starcraft 2, and Ian Fisher, a long-term ensemble fellow who's doing Age of Empires Online. I thought. You had Ian Fleming, I thought. Oh, right. That's why, yeah. He's dead, Bruce, isn't he? I don't know that stuff. Okay, that's a very, that's a very august panel that you had there.
