Times of darkness are certainly part of our journey in this life.

Did you know that Jesus was not just the shepherd in David's Day?

And he was not even just the shepherd when he walked on this earth, but he is the shepherd

today and he will always be our good shepherd.

We have been, of course, most recently in Psalm 23 and in our last couple studies in the

gospel records, looking at what Jesus said about his

shepherding work. And there are other references. For example, the Bible says of our Lord Jesus

at the end of his life, Matthew 26, verse 31, that he would be smitten, the shepherd would be

smitten and the sheep would be scattered. It was prophetic of his crucifixion and the scattering

of those disciples for a season.

There is a portion of scripture where the Lord Jesus said in the end and the final judgment,

Matthew 25, he knows his sheep. Remember, he'll divide the sheep from the goats. So there are numerous

references to him as shepherd. But what I'd like to do in our final time together is look at the last three references

to our Lord Jesus as Shepherd in our Bible.

And they are all three found near the end of your New Testament.
