| 0:00.0 | Hey, welcome back to the Muslim intelligence podcast. I'm here with Ben Pekulski. |
| 0:11.5 | Today we're going to dive into the biggest mistake that I believe everyone is making |
| 0:14.9 | when it comes to exercise. So one of the greatest ways for you to understand this is if you |
| 0:20.3 | are working with a pro athlete, |
| 0:22.7 | let's say you're working with someone who's a pro football player and you know that in October, |
| 0:27.6 | their season begins. |
| 0:29.0 | And when their season begins, you want their body to be performing at the highest level. |
| 0:33.8 | Now, regardless of what your goal is, you may not be a pro athlete. |
| 0:36.4 | You may just be someone who it wants to look really great or someone who wants to feel really great or whatever your |
| 0:41.4 | goal is, this still will apply to you. So if you're working with a pro athlete and his or her |
| 0:47.1 | season begins in October, typically what they'll do is they'll have about a four, three to four |
| 0:52.5 | month off season, which, you know, if you think about the logic |
| 0:55.8 | of an off season and this logic should apply to everyone, regardless of your training objectives, |
| 1:02.6 | the logic of the offseason is what? |
| 1:04.7 | Is ultimately to teach the body how to do its job most effectively. |
| 1:10.4 | So if I'm a wide receiver in football, |
| 1:13.3 | if I'm a pitcher in baseball, if I'm a goalie in hockey or a defenseman hockey, they all have |
| 1:19.4 | very specific objectives and outcomes. And if you're trying to build your body or your |
| 1:23.7 | objective is to build your body, you have very specific objectives and outcomes. You need to be able to do very specific things, regardless of where you are in the continuum. |
| 1:32.4 | So if your body, if your goal is building your body, great. |
| 1:35.2 | If your goal is being a football player, great. |
| 1:37.0 | If your goal is being a competitive swimer, great. |
