It's a very good morning to a very good week after a very good weekend.

I don't apologise for using Very Good three times there.

I did it deliberately.

The sun is shining.

There's a misty haze over the London skyline and we're ready once more to take the fight to the enemy

following a weekend of some reflection after the funeral of Prince Philip and the terribly sad death

of Helen McCrory, people were out and about in their thousands celebrating their newfound freedoms.

Now, I know that some of you will go, well, it's not really free, is it? If you have to go and sit in a

garden and put a mask on, well, you don't have to put a mask on. You have to choose where you go,

you have to be careful where you go, and you have to hang out with the right people. There was a definite feeling of renewal in the air as I walked the dog on the beach and saw more and more

people walking around actually not wearing masks. Outside, wouldn't you know? And guess what?

None of them are actually dropping dead in the open air. They seem to be all quite healthy.

This morning we're finding out why all the doom and gloom from the likes of messers witty and valence is just that absolute and utter pessimism. This morning we're talking to a

scientist with a different view. Here's Philip Thomas, a professor at the University of Bristol,

who has done some research of his own. He's worked out that we can definitely return to the old

normal. That means no masks, no social distancing, and we can do it quite soon. He says there will be no significant
