Well, I say good morning. I said it to Peter Blexley earlier, former police detective, of course,

here in the Metropolitan Police in London. It is very far from a good morning because what we are

waking up to here and have been for the last few hours is a terrible, terrible shooting, a murder indeed

of a police sergeant and a custody centre in Croydon.

A man was arrested, a 23-year-old man brought into custody.

He was searched because he was found to be carrying ammunition.

The search did not result in the discovery of a weapon.

He then somehow managed to draw that weapon, fire it at the police sergeant,

killing him pretty much instantly.

He then turned the gun on himself.

He is still alive as we speak.

have suffered probably inordinately more than any organisation which is there to do good should ever have to worry about.
