Very good morning to you, particularly if you live in London and try to get to work using the Piccadilly line today.

In which case, my condolences, my commiserations.

Unbelievable experience, but nothing more boring.

Possibly the only thing more boring than other people's travel experiences,

despite, of course, being a staple of the radio phone in format, other people's dreams, unless you're in them. Have you found that? Someone says, oh, you'll never guess what I dreamt about last night, and you'll say, please don't tell me, I couldn't care less. And then they say, you were in it. And you go, oh yeah, what was I doing? What happened? Was that just me? Is that yet more evidence of my overdeveloped ego and self-interest? I don't know. But anyway, I digress, partly because I don't

want to talk about the thing that we have to talk about for us today. Like a little child,

engaging in an element of distraction or, you know, look over there. There's something else.

It's an absolutely horrible story. And, you know, I used to say something. I used to preface some of my comments

on a morning like this with three words that I have excised from my vocabulary. But I'm bringing

them back today because it is a crucial part of

how I feel. And I appreciate that perhaps it shouldn't be. And I know that perhaps, I don't think

it will upset you, but the words are as a father.

And it doesn't change anything.

I'd still be disgusted if I wasn't a father.

I wouldn't feel any different inside on a meta level, on an objective level.

But I read a story like this and I think we've always told our girls that the police are a place of safety.

The police are the people to whom you turn when you have a problem.

And I know, I know that the massive majority of them will be just as shocked by this as we are.

But I think that you have a duty this morning, not just to reassure us,

but to explain to us how this happened. How can I sit here and express my confidence, as that call and Nick play just before the news stated, that the police are just as disgusted by this as we are,

because it's the failure to investigate.
