As inflation is going out faster than paid, everyone's getting paid less. So cost of living,

apparently need this explaining. If you've got a cost of living crisis, part of which is, of course,

inflation, but, you know, there are other factors as well. And whatever it is you are paid for

whatever it is you do is not increasing at least in line with how the cost of living

and or inflation is increasing, then you are getting a pay cut. You are getting paid less in terms

of how far what you get for what you do will go when you start spending it. You would have to work more hours today than you did

yesterday to buy the same thing. Listen, I don't lay claim to being an economics guru,

although I'm possibly not as bad at matters numerical as I've made out over the years. It's that weird

English suspicion of the sciences, suspicion of math. So you're good at English, so you can't be

good at math. I think that's really dangerous, actually. I've tried desperately not to pass
