I sort of sometimes think I need some new, a new vocabulary to describe reactions to developments. I'm thinking of the Overton window today, which is a sort of, I think it's a way of

describing the sort of parameters of acceptable conversation. The Overton window moves to the right

and you will use words and hear language and even perhaps have debates that you can't quite

believe or that certainly you wouldn't have had 10 years ago. It's a form of frog boiling. We talk about frog boiling a lot on the probe. We're not from an animal rights point of view. Good God. No one should have a boil a frog. But from the metaphor that describes something happening incrementally so that you don't notice it. Even on my old A to Z theory. Do you know something? Come here a minute. I nearly opened the show this morning

by saying the stuff we're going to talk about first up is so serious that it's highly unlikely

I'm going to go off on one of my slightly distracted flights of fantasy that sometimes disrupt

and even distract from the opening monologue at the top of the program. And then I almost just did one then.

You remember I talk about the A to Z theory,

the theory of the A to Z.

So if I sold you, if I showed you Z today,

you would, you'd chase me out of town.

If I showed you Z today, you'd cancel me.

But if I showed you Y yesterday and X the day before that and

W the day before that and V the day before that and U the day before that and T the day, and you go

right back to when I actually gave you A and because I'd given you A, you were a little bit more

susceptible to B. Suddenly I'm selling you Zed and you're not even objecting.

You're lapping it up.

So there's two stories today that fit into that category.

One is about the police seeking powers to arrest you just in case you cause a disruption.
