I moved back from Canada in the early 2000s just before I got married.

I had been there longer than I ever meant to be. One year became two, then five, then nearly ten years had passed.

Canada was pretty good to me in lots of ways, but I never felt permanent.

I always knew that I would come back to Ireland.

I bought a house that was small.

It was a 1970s bungalow in the Midlands. By no means nothing fancy.

It had a few things that needed to be replaced, but it was an overall good condition.

The bungalow sat right at the start of a narrow country lane which is popular in Ireland

with fields in every direction.
