But now, let's get into our next paranormal case.

Late at night, a quiet road feels predictable. You know how fast you're going. You know what the lights ahead should do. And then something appears that refuses to act like a vehicle, a reflection or anything you recognise.

August 27, 1979. On a desolate stretch of Highway 5 in Marshall County, Minnesota, Deputy Sheriff

Val Johnson, a quire, a quiet and well-respected 35-year-old officer,

was on a routine patrol about 10 miles west of the town of Stephen.

Little did Johnston know that this uneventful shift was about to take a terrifying turn.

As he travelled westbound, Johnston suddenly caught sight of an intense bright light through

his driver's side window. To Johnston, the lights were unlike any vehicle's headlights and hovered

a few feet off the ground at the treeline ahead. He wondered if it might be an airplane making an emergency landing on the road.

The Grand Forks Air Force Base was not far away, and the thought of a downed aircraft crossed

his mind.

Determined to investigate, he turned left onto State Highway 2-200 and headed south towards the strange glowing orb.

As Johnston eased his Ford LTD squad car onto the narrow highway, the red gravel shoulder crunching under his tires as he accelerated, the brilliant light remained in the distance.
