But now, let's get into our next paranormal case.

Charterhouse sits high on the Mendip Hills in Somerset, several miles from the nearest town, surrounded by open ground and exposed weather.

It doesn't resemble a village in the usual sense. There is no centre, no main street,

and no obvious reason for anyone to pass through unless they have already intended to be there.

People who spend time here often comment on how quiet it feels.

Walkers tend to move through rather than stop.

The Mendip hills are formed primarily of limestone.

Over long periods of time, water dissolves this type of rock, cracks

widen into channels, cavities form, and the roofs of these cavities weaken and collapse.

The result is a landscape filled with voids, shafts and unstable ground that may appear solid until it's not.

In the area around Charterhouse, this natural process was intensified by human activity
