And now the 39 year old Ridey will face the 22 year old rookie, one of the bright young stars in the game in Corbin Carroll. Sure is.

As we approach the midway point of the MLB season, the Arizona Diamondbacks are doing something very few people expected sitting in first place in the NL West ahead of the Dodgers, Padres and Giants.

And one big reason why is their undersized center fielder, the five foot ten, do it all Dynamo Corbin Carroll.

From Colorado, it went down to the final hitter and they finally got the big hit.

The question at the center of Carroll's rise is how he became a top prospect. And now top rookie of the year contender, despite his lack of size.

The athletic sector can and found some clues in the way that Carroll has operated ever since he was a little kid.

It's the mentality that really sets him over the top. He takes the tools that he has, some of which are prodigious and some like his height or not.

They don't stand out that much and he is determined to get the most out of them. He's just wired differently than a lot of people.

Plus, can Carroll and the surprising debacks continue to challenge the Dodgers all season long?

So Zach, today we're taking a look at how Corbin Carroll made this pretty rapid rise towards Stardom.

Despite the fact that he's very much on the smaller size when it comes to pro athletes. He's listed at five foot ten, one sixty five.

So first of all, Zach, can you describe Carroll's playing style?

Yeah, it's hard-nosed and he's not one sixty five anymore. I can tell you that. I'm sure he's still five ten, but he was one sixty five when he was drafted.

But he's probably in the one eighties now. We really have to not underrate how athletic he is.
