In May of 2022, Guidepost Solutions released a report on their findings from their independent investigation of the Southern Baptist Convention's executive committees handling of sexual abuse allegations from 2000 to 2021.

The Southern Baptist Convention is a fellowship of 47,000 churches across the U.S. with over 14 million members.

The 288-page report is horrific.

These men willfully chose to look away and ignore the evil that was right in front of them.

But this report only focused on how the executive committee handled sexual abuse allegations.

What if there were other stories reported to individual SBC churches?

Would those stories be heard and acknowledge? Or would the victims be ignored and

mistreated in the same ghastly manner that was detailed out in the Guidepost Solutions Report?

Today, we will not only discuss the Guidepost Solutions Report, but we will also explore the

response to a sexual abuse

allegation by a large SBC and Acts 29 church in Flower Mountain, Texas.

This particular story was featured in two New York Times articles in 2019, and is yet another

tragic example that when the institution of church is placed over

the truth, the least of these are ignored, marginalized, and re-traumatized, instead of being welcomed,

loved, and made whole.
