That was Joe Biden welcoming California Senator Kamala Harris to the Democratic

ticket in a campaign video released Wednesday morning. Biden's selection of

Harris as his vice presidential running mate has energized Democrats on the

eve of next week's virtual convention. The first African-American woman to

be selected for a major party ticket she is a formidable figure who brings

the kind of political and governmental experience as a former prosecutor and

attorney general and now sitting US Senator that none of her rivals in the

deep stakes really had. But she can also bring some baggage especially for

progressives that have long had qualms about her days as DA and AG when she

failed to embrace criminal justice reforms. We'll get two perspectives on

Harris's selection first from former California Senator Barbara Boxer who

Harris succeeded as Senator and from law professor Lara Bazalon who last year

wrote a stinging critique of Harris's record as a prosecutor all on this

edition of Skull Duggery.

Because people have got to know whether or not their presidents are cropped well
