They want $25 billion for the post office.

Now, they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of

these millions and millions of ballots.

Now, if we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money.

That means they can't have universal mail-in voting.

They just can't have it.

That was President Trump this week, seeming to confirm what his harshest critics have alleged,

that he is deliberately blocking extra funding for the U.S. Postal Service in order to make

sure that easy and widespread mail-in voting never takes place during this year's election.

It seems on its face a prescription for a disaster at the polls this November, given the continued

spread of the coronavirus and legitimate health concerns about in-person voting.

And what are the implications for state and local officials increasingly petrified about

how they are going to make sure that everybody who wants to vote will get a chance to do so,

and just as important, have their ballots counted.
