My experience happened in 2013, in the house that I still live in today,

and I should probably explain how I ended up here.

My partner died of cancer four years before my move. Essentially I was left on my own.

For two long years I watched them fight that illness.

We were pretty much each other's rock.

And after they passed away, our little seaside home in Plymouth felt far too empty and quiet for my liking.

And I realized that I needed a change of scenery and a fresh start.

In early 2013 I returned to Surrey where I was born.

We have two sons who at the time were in their mid-30s.

Both of them lived away from home.
