Good morning. I'm Anna Palmer. And I'm Jake Sherman. And welcome to The Daily Punch, brought to you by Punchable News. It's Tuesday, February 4th, 2025. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, the USAID fight both sides want.

Number two, it's go time on Trump's most controversial noms. And number three, the latest from the vault, the lobbying war you might have missed. All right, Jake, let's get into it. This fight

and President Donald Trump and his administration's efforts to dismantle and change USAID has been center stage here in Washington.

But today we're talking about how this battle over the United States Agency for International Development is in many

ways a brawl that suits both parties. On the Republican side, you've got Donald Trump and

Hill Republicans saying the agency is a clear example of sprawling federal bureaucracy run amok.

While on the Democratic side, you've got Democrats saying this is exactly what

that was wrong with the Trump administration, that you've got Elon Musk and, you know,

a billionaire and somebody who's not even government appointed tasked with beginning to wind down

USAID, Democrats citing many of the programs

that are important around the country.

And you really have them out of lockerheads here.
