Hey everyone, I'm Dr. Allison. Today's scripture offers us a wiser way of being human as we step into the day.

Today's passage speaks to attention every human being eventually feels. It's when the outer life and the inner life don't always move in the same direction. Our body's age,

circumstances shift, hard seasons arrive, things fall apart that we once depended on. And yet,

Paul writes something remarkable. Even while the outer life may feel worn down, something else

can be happening at the same time. Inwardly, we can be renewed.

Today's scripture is 2 Corinthians 4, 16 through 18. Therefore, we do not lose heart,

though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light

and momentary troubles are achieving for us

an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what

is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Therefore, we do not

lose heart. This line alone tells us something important. Paul is speaking

to people who had many reasons to lose heart. The early Christian communities faced real hardship,

persecution, uncertainty, loss, instability, their faith did not shield them from difficulty,

quite the opposite. But Paul offers a

perspective that reframes what's happening beneath the surface of those struggles. Though outwardly,

we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. Notice the honesty here.

Scripture doesn't pretend that our outer lives stay easy or strong forever.

Our bodies grow tired, situations become complicated.

Relationships break, dreams, change.

Sometimes the external circumstances of life feel like they are slowly wearing us down.

But Paul says this is not the whole story.
