Hello from Washington, I'm Chuck Todd, cast. So we've got something a little different for you

today. You're about to hear a panel that I moderated earlier this week,

this week being the first week of April at George Washington University's

School for Media and Public Affairs.

Full disclosure, I'm a member of the Board of the School of

of Media and Public Affairs. I obviously went to GW, I care about this place, and I'm

very involved with all the different ways we're trying to grow the next generation of journalists out there.

But I found this discussion very fascinating and compelling.

It's also on a topic that I care about a lot. The topic is called sports

washing. It's when governments try to get favorable press and sometimes paper over

unfavorable aspects of their governance by getting involved in big sporting events or buying into famous

sports teams.

You're going to hear from three panelists, Professor William Eumens, Professor Kelsey Nelson, and a

student and a women's soccer player named Avril Silva, all obviously with

relationships with GW. Obviously you know this has been a subject that I dabble in quite a bit.

You've probably heard on various podcasts, me talking about Qatar and what they've been doing,

how they've been spending money,

particularly in the Washington, D.C. market,

very aggressive, not just in the sports world,

all sorts of philanthropic areas all up and down the East Coast, all with what appears to be an attempt to

get favored, be seen more favorably by the United States in particular. But the reason I found this
