as we hear tonight's sleep story hello and welcome to the sleep story from abide i'm tyler thanks for

joining me tonight one of the most remarkable stories in the Bible is the conversion of Saul of Tarsus.

He was what some people might call a bad dude.

He was very zealous in his religious beliefs.

He had, by his own words, a lot of reasons to be confident in who he was as a Jew.

He wrote to the Philippian believers,

If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more.

Circumcised on the eighth day of the people of Israel of the tribe of Benjamin a Hebrew of Hebrews as to the law a Pharisee as to zeal a persecutor of

the church as to righteousness under the law blameless

in his 20s Paul became a brilliant Jewish scholar and he was a Roman citizen which would be very different in his later life but you

know what Saul whose name was later changed to Paul said about all these

accomplishments but whatever gain I had I counted as loss for the sake of Christ indeed I count everything

as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord Acts 9 which

chronicles Saul's miraculous conversion records God saying in verse 15 saw is my chosen instrument

to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings as well as to the people of Israel.

If God were to use Saul, it would take a dramatic transformation both in how Saul would see

those in the church, but how the church would see Saul.
