So welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Tonight I'm blessed to be at the Church of the Ascension

gathered with a number of Ascension families.

Lent is a time to grow in a deep union with God, to share more fully in the life of God,

and God shares his life with us through faith, hope, and love. So we're beginning to go more deeply

into the virtues of faith, hope, and love over these next few days.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

And let's call the mind all those that we've promised to pray for.

All people want to be happy.

Happiness is to possess the good things that complete

or fulfill our human nature.

In general, God designed the human person

to need certain good things to thrive.

Physical goods like food, shelter, safety, security, exercise, rest, psychological well-being,

friendship, family, love and acceptance of other persons,

knowledge, achievement, meaningful work,

beauty like the sunset, but also our own unique identity, our own place in the world.

Now if you had all of these, would you be perfectly satisfied?

No. Because even though the things of this world are good, they're very good.

Nothing is perfect. It's not, and it will never be enough.
