Thursday interim OC Eddie Faulkner held his first press conference since being elevated to that role following Matt Canada's dismissal.

And while the ultimate goal will be the results, the team's production, his presser hit all the right notes.

He did not allow all the blame to land on Canada.

He took responsibility as a coaching staff for the team's struggles.

Collectively, they were not good enough and it's important to acknowledge that he didn't come in and try to be the smartest guy in the room

He had a simple plan of being detailed leaning on the team's weapons and focusing on what's working, like the

Steelers running game.

To allow Mike Sullivan to do his thing as a play caller and not try to overload him with information.

And while those big picture questions about this offense and its future,

Faulkner kept the focus on Sunday, beating Cincinnati.

That's where it needs to be in a critical AFC North Road game.

Pittsburgh cannot drop two in a row like that to backup quarterbacks.

Now, the question is, will the offense perform better?

I have no idea.

But for a first impression, Faulkner passed the test.
