Since Houston Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud had an incredible game this past week and a five touchdown performance including

the game-winning drive in the final seconds to beat Tampa Bay, there's been discussions

comparing him to Kenny Pickett.

If Strout's early success is an alarm bell for Pickett and really

if the two should be compared in the first place.

To the latter, the answer is yes. It's valid to compare both

players and here's why. It's simple really. They were both deemed to be each

teams, franchise quarterback Houston and Pittsburgh.

It does not matter that Stroud was the second pick or the picket went 20th.

They were tabbed to be the guy, the quarterback of the future.

To those who disagree, I ask... be the guy, the quarterback of the future.

To those who disagree, I ask, where would you draw the line?

If Pickett went 15th, 11th, inside the top 10?

The apples to apples here is both teams were confident they had found their long-term answer and they treat each player as such.

It makes it a more than valid comparison exercise between the two.

As for the rest, what it means for Pickett that's a separate and lengthier discussion.

But at its base form, you can and should compare the two careers, and they will be compared the rest of the way.
