I'm Josh Carney. Coming into the 2023 season expectations were quite high

for the offense of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As quarterback Kenny Pickett was poised to take a second year leap.

The offensive line looked to be in great shape with the addition of guard Isaac Sayamalu, and there was key continuity with

offensive coordinator Matt Canada entering his third year with the franchise.

Through the first seven games of the season though, that offense has largely fallen flat on its face.

In fact, the offense is somehow worse than they were a season ago, when Pickett was a rookie quarterback.

The Steelers currently are 30th in yards per game, 25th in passing yards, 28th in rushing yards, and 29th in points per game this season.

Last year, Pittsburgh finished the year 22nd in yards per game offensively.

23rd in passing yards, 15th in rushing yards, and 23rd in points per game.

That's a decline in every single offensive statistical category through the first seven games of what was supposed to be a promising season from an offensive standpoint, especially after an explosive pre-season.

There's been clear regression across the board for the Steelers.

Pickett has had major struggles with his ability to process at times and has really fallen apart in the pocket.

The run game is non-existent, as the offensive line can't establish anything up front,

and Nagee Harris and Jaylin weren't having exactly. can't

exactly gotten going on the ground this season.

Not to mention that same offensive line is having a very tough time protecting Pickett in the pocket too.

Made all the more frustrating when plays are there and schemed up

those offensive players aren't making the plays like Deontay
